Eloxal Aluminum Necklace w Earrings 1950s West Germany Art Deco Jewelry
This necklace and clip earring Parure was made in West Germany during the Mid Century Modern period, or 1945-1965. The Parure is made of polished Eloxal Aluminum with beads and linear texture on molded geometrics similar to Art Deco motifs. Many jewelry designs made in the Mid Century Modern period are replicas of designs made during the Art Deco era.
The necklace has 9 panels that overlap in a domino fashion and it is interesting that on the back, all 9 panels are signed DGBM - DGpo. I do not know who the signature stands for, but I know this German company made and signed millions of pewters lids on German steins and also made watch parts. I know for certain that they did not make much Eloxal jewelry as it is very uncommon to find any Eloxal jewelry that has a signature other than W. Germany. The matching clip earrings are signed just W Germany.
This entire Parure is in pristine like new condition and has obviously never been worn. The bright silver metal is perfectly clean with no scratches, scuffs, or dings. The earrings are perfect as well and the clips are strong with tight snap. The earrings are 1 1/4" long x 3/4" wide. The decorative portion of the necklace is 8 1/2" long and with the original extension chains, it can be hooked as long as 17 1/2" long.
* Because this set is made of Eloxal, it is very light weight to wear. If you are not familiar with German Eloxal Aluminum jewelry, please dont think the jewelry is cheap because it is light weight. Eloxal aluminum jewelry is highly collectible and eagerly sought after, and it is not being made anymore.
