Deep Ruby Red Crystal Ring Old Czech Design 1940s Vintage Jewelry
If your pocketbook cannot afford real Burmese Rubies then you might have interest in this very old European crystal ring.
Made in the 1930-1940 era, these deep ruby red crystals are extremely rare. I had a very hard time photographing this ring because the crystals seem to have a life of their own and don't like to be photographed. Under bright light, the faceted crystals look like real Burmese Rubies : brilliant, super sparkling, bright regal red. Under other light, the crystals are so rich they can almost appear black.
Crystals like these are not used in jewelry today and even in the 1940s they were rare. When you put this ring on your finger and look at it under bright light, you will be extremely surprised! Only in person can this ring truly be appreciated.
The ring is made of thick and weighty brass with old gold plating. Each crystal in the 7 petal design is bezel set in old fine point dog tooth settings. Based on the quality construction of the ring, the unique ruby red crystals and the types of settings, this is most likely an old Czechoslovakian ring but the ring is not signed or marked in any way.
The ring band is very stiff but it is adjustable from a size 5 to a size 7 1/2. The face of the ring is 3/4" or 19 mm wide. The red crystals are about 5 mm and 7 mm.
The ring band is slightly out of round and I don't not recommend trying to hammer it back to round. Dont take it to a jeweler and ask them to do it because they could easily ruin the ring. The brass is very stiff and doing so might compromise the integrity of the ring band, or damage the crystals in the process. It has a slightly oval shape and will fit your finger just fine.
The most important aspect about this ring is the condition. All of the crystals are original, present, and flawless. There are no chips, scratches, scuffs, cracks, or facet wear. Under a loupe, some light to moderate gold wear on the brass on the back and ring band can be detected, however it is hardly worth noting. The ring is clean and bright with not the slightest hint of dirt, grime, verdigris, or other foreign matter.
This ring is like finding a needle in a haystack. In 4 decades of collecting vintage jewelry, I have never seen another ring like this one!
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new luxury presentation ring box.
