Matisse Jewelry Vintage Copper Necklace 1950s Dark Red Waltz Design
This romantic signed Matisse copper enamel necklace is a rare old design appropriately named Waltz. The Waltz design was only made in a few colors and dates from the mid 1950s. This ornate design in deep berry red is the most prominent necklace design Matisse ever made.
The type of high heat metallic glaze with thick clear coat was baked twice as Matisse produced durable, long lasting, top quality copper enamel jewelry.
The decorative portion of the necklace is 14" long x 1" tall or 35 cm x 2.5 and the overall length is 18" or 45 cm long. There are nine pendant sections and each is 1 1/4" wide x 1" tall or 3.1 cm x 2.5 cm.
The entire necklace both front and back is in pristine like new microscopically clean condition. All of the red enamel is perfect with no chips, scratches, crazing, or loss of clear coat. The exposed copper metal is clean and bright with no signs of wear. The necklace is signed Matisse on the hook.
You can wear the necklace high around your neckline, or you can drape it down lower towards your bust line for a more dramatic look.
