Vintage Strawberry Pin Big Red Rhinestone Brooch Designer Jewelry
In my 40 years of collecting antique and vintage jewelry, I have seen hundreds of strawberry pins and of course, the strawberry pins made by Weiss, and the Austrian fruit pins rank among the most desirable. Most enamel strawberry pins are very Plain Jane, but this designer signed strawberry pin is the exception!
You can see the designer signature in the photos above but it is a signature I cannot clearly read; it is 4 or 5 cursive letters that is perhaps Apel or Arpad or Boyd. This large juicy strawberry is exceptional designer quality, despite the fact that the designer is not clear.
The pin has life like shape, curved and domed, and is made of thick textured satin gold metal. The strawberry has polished gold metal seeds all over, in raised or relief texture, and each seed has an inset tiny clear rhinestone. The strawberry is translucent red enamel and the textured gold background creates an impressive metallic look. The special enameling technique and the tiny clear rhinestones makes this strawberry pin like none other.
An impressive I Love Strawberries statement, the brooch is medium large in size at 1 7/8" tall x 1 3/8" wide or 48 mm x 37 mm. The entire brooch is in pristine microscopically clean like new conidition with no imperfections or flaws. the back is finished in textured gold and the original fine working safety clasp is in place.
