Tortoise Glass Cameos Vintage Cufflinks Signed HICKOK 1950s Jewelry
You might ask yourself why men would wear lady cameo cufflinks. The answer dates back to the Victorian era, when men wore jewelry to show there was a special woman in their life they admired.
Made in the 1950s and designer signed by Hickok, these 3D portrait style cufflinks are an antique reproduction design featuring cameo ladies in molded tortoise glass. This type of glass is also sometimes referred to as Bohemian caramel glass and this type of glass was only made in the German / Bohemian region.
This old type of glass has commendable luster; much like Tigers Eye gemstones. I've always admired Hickok (and some other US jewelry designers) because they went out of their way to import exceptional European glass (and Austrian crystals) for their designs.
The cufflinks are made of polished gold plated metal and the rectangular frames are scalloped vertically. The mesh metal wraps are bright yellow gold plated/polished metal as well.
Medium in size, the cufflinks are 3/4" long x 11/16" wide or 22 mm x 18 mm. The cameos are a nice large size at 18 mm long.
Both cufflinks are in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws and have obviously never been worn. There are no scratches, chips, or cracks to the cameo glass cabs. There is no loss of gold or gold wear. Both cufflinks are signed Hickok.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in new luxury presentation cufflink box as pictured.
