Silver Spiral Vintage Cufflinks w Blue Crystals 1950s Jewelry
Made in the 1950s, these vintage cufflinks are not signed however I believe they were made by Swank. During a long conversation one day with a man who is a cufflink collector and has published on book on cufflinks, I was told that this Retro Modern design was inspired by the spinning wheels at carnivals; the wheels that were spun when you placed a bet.
The cufflinks demonstrate a rather new technique in jewelry manufacturing; new in the 1950s: the precision engraving of beveled spirals accomplished by the use of a diamond tip etching machine. Made of silver rhodium metal, the circle at the center is also spiral engraved. The inside ring of crystals are Sapphire blue Austrian crystal chatons, all prong set.
Medium large in size, the cufflinks are 7/8" or 23 mm wide. Both cufflinks are in pristine clean with no imperfections or flaws. There is no loss of silver rhodium and only very microscopic hints of gentle wear on the backs. All of the blue crystals are original, present, and sparkling.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new luxury presentation cufflink box and pictured.
