This Art Deco porcelain serving dish with handle has been a delightful part of my home decor for many decades. I never used the piece and kept it for show in my hutch cabinet for 45 years. Everyone who ever peered into my hutch would always remark on the uniqueness of this piece, but none ever had a clue as to the rarity of it. The Art Deco pattern is very captivating. Gorgeous!

This is an Art Deco design that is very uncommon to find. The colors are Oriental orange (or dark peach) golden yellow, black, red, and 22 kt gold trim.

The dish is signed and was made in Japan by Tashiro Shoten in the late 1920s or early 1930s. It is one of the earliest examples from this maker. Art Deco wares from any Japanese porcelain maker are very difficult to find today and highly sought after.

This serving dish has scalloped corners and the lip of the dish is turned up to create a slight bowl shape. Medium in size, the dish is 7 1/4" or 18.5 cm wide.

The entire dish is in excellent clean very well cared for condition. There are no cracks, scratches, repairs, or loss of paint. The clear gloss finish is in excellent condition as well.

Looking at the piece with close up scrutiny, there is light to moderate gold trim wear on the handle and around the rim of the dish. There is no crazing top or bottom. I see one very small crazing line on the end of handle that is just in the clear coat finish. There is also one tiny chip on the bottom of the plate - on the foot, not the rim - but no chips anywhere else.but no chips anywhere else.
