This color red is the hardest color to find in vintage celluloid. Red was not an easy color to produce when this brooch was made.

This big blooming rose brooch is a deep crimson red or Oriental red. If the celluloid appears bright red on your monitor, it is not bright red. As most collectors know, the vast majority of old celluloid jewelry was made in Japan and the majority overall is also unsigned. This pin is signed Japan and was made in the 1940-1950 era.

The layered floral and leaf design is elongated or elliptical and medium in size at 2" long x 1 1/16" tall , or 51 mm x 26 mm. The celluloid is glossy and is in pristine clean condition with no imperfections. There is no fading, chips, or cracks. The back has the original fine working C clasp.
