MATISSE RENIOR Signed 1950s Vintage Copper Earrings w Gold Enamel
# 9743
$44.95
From the 1950's, these signed Renoir Matisse copper enamel earrings are an uncommon pair. Earrings in this design were very limited in production and there was no pattern name. It has been referred to as to represent sea life forms, but what makes this pair so uncommon is the rare enamel glaze technique.
The domed oval cabs have glistening metallic gold backgrounds, flecked with black and translucent yellow gold dots. These yellow gold dots glow as if they are lit up from within because the dots are stiffly beaded and raised in texture as you can see in my close-up photo. This technique was extremely difficult to accomplish, and Matisse never used the technique on almost all other designs.
The tear drop frames are polished copper bars with black enamel inlay, behind the enamel cabs. The clips are tight and strong and both are signed Renoir Matisse. Exceptionally clean as well. They measure 1 1/2" long x 3/4" wide.
The earrings are in exceptionally clean well cared for condition. Truth is, the earrings have been stored away in my jewelry collection for over 30 years and have not been worn. There are only microscopic hints of wear from gentle handling.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation earring box.
Comes with a free new pair of soft silicon ear cushions for your wearing comfort.
