Sometimes old 1960s pins intrigue me because I always want to know what inspired the designer to make the design. As this bird pin was made by a US costume jewelry designer, I suppose cockatoos were at that time considered to be unique and rare to see, especially in jewelry. But, I do confess, I have a weakness for antique and vintage bird pins in general! So many were made in so many bird types and composition of materials because they were always loved by the women who wore them.
This molded metal bird is old thick and weighty pot metal with a very unique Mother of Pearl iridescent enamel finish. It is a very beautiful well-made old bird.
The bird is a long, slender design at 2 1/2" long x 3/4" wide. The enamel finish is in perfect condition with no scratches, chips crazing or repairs. The pin has the original fine working safety clasp and is not signed.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
* You can add a gold or silver metal converter to wear the pin as a pendant by checking the option box.
