These Black, Gold, and Silver Vintage Earrings are very unique and were made in the 1950-1960 era. I bought them long ago and safely stashed them away in my jewelry collection and they've never been worn.

You won't see many earrings made like these. They are made in a way that jewelry is no longer made today. They were most likely made in Spain, Italy, or Portugal. 

They exhibit old-world craftsmanship that was used in European jewelry up until the end of the first half of the 20th century; similar to techniques used in making Damascene jewelry. Sometimes it's called engraving but technically, its beveled metal etching. 

I don't know what the base metal is, but it is dimpled and a baked on black enamel finish. When the etchings were made, 14kt gold and silver are applied into the etched areas. It is a very similar process to Damascene jewelry.

The earrings are for pierced ears. Light weight to wear, and have brand new gold metal ear wires with lever back closures. The ear wires are new because the old ones were weird: A pierced post style about 1/4 of an inch long and too short to even go all the way through the ear. * If you don't want gold metal, I can swap them out for the same style in silver metal for you at no charge - just message me when purchasing. 

The earrings are 2 1/4" or 56 mm long. The pair is in superb condition for age. The medallions are pristine clean with no scratches, bends, or dings. There is some microscopic black enamel wear from gentle handling; mainly on the backs. The earrings are not signed.
