1960s Vintage Necklace Jamaican Wood Carved Lady Face Pendant
# 12137
$85.00
Not all vintage wood bead necklaces were created equal! I've collected wood bead necklaces from the 1950s thru the 1980s for 40 years now. (My collection is limited and I only have a few more to list. These are rare and unusual designs and they do sell quickly.)
This very unique hand carved mahogany necklace is one of a kind. It dates from the 1960-1970 era. The large medallion is the profile of a lady's face that looks African by design, but it could have been made anywhere in the Caribbean also.
The chain is made of flat 2" long rectangular sections of carved mahogany, joined with large silver metal hoops. The carved medallion has a polished natural quartz stone, placed where an earring would be.
The necklace is not signed but the craftsmanship indicates that this is most likely Jamaican. The entire necklace is in perfect condition with no signs of wear or age. There are no chips or scratches on the wood pieces and the silver metal hoops are clean and pristine.
The face is rather large at 3" long x 2 1/2" wide. The necklace chain is about 28" long.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
