In the late 1970s and early 1980s, big Modern Art medallion necklaces like this set were very popular. Most were made by individual artists and were not mass produced.
This lively parure is made of large square hand painted porcelain medallions, large glossy white round Lucite beads, and orange and gold disk beads. The porcelain squares are painted with metallic gold paint and reddish-orange Modern Art motifs. The white Lucite beads are thick and weighty and not cheap looking. The medium medallions are painted on both sides.
The necklace is 28" long or 70 cm and the large medallion hangs down an additional 2 1/4" long. The large medallion is 2 1/4" wide or 5.8 cm and the other two medium medallions are 1 1/4" wide or 3.1 cm. The pierced earrings are 1 1/2" wide or 3.8 cm point to point and are worn in a diamond fashion, not square to the ear.
The necklace and the earrings are not signed. The entire set is in like new unworn condition. The set in pristine clean and has obviously never been worn.
