This tiger stripe glass bead necklace has been a favorite in my collection for many decades. The beads were made in Neu-Gablonz in the 1950s and they are very rare. They are handmade satin glass pinch beads; a cottage industry bead that was not mass produced. The satin glass pinch beads are pale yellow or sandstone in color with deep burgundy/black pulled canes. The canes are not applied to the surface of the glass but are in the glass, all the way through the beads. The necklace also has round polished black glass beads and unusual bone shaped beads.
This necklace was originally strung on old cotton cord and I have restrung it on sturdy Acculon, or Teflon coated stainless steel. An antique style gold metal necklace clasp was added and a few of the beads were left off to make a pair of matching pierced earrings.
The necklace is 32" or 81.3 cm long. The earrings hang down 2 1/4" or 58 mm long. The satin glass pinch beads are about 10 mm. All of the beads are in pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation necklace box.
