Made in China in the early 20th Century, this Cloisonne round lidded box is not an easy box to find. Im not an expert in antique Cloisonne but I do have extensive knowledge about the subject. I know that lidded boxes with finials are not easy to find.
This box is signed China with an impressive stamp in the metal on the bottom of the bowl. It is a stamp that was first used in 1897 and is not an easy Chinese mark to find. The primary colors of the Cloisonne are white speckled with black, red, pink, yellow, lime green, dark green, and blue. The patterns are fish scale, lotus flower, and chrysanthemum motifs. The box itself is made of copper, not brass.
The bowl with lid measures 5 1/4" wide x 3 1/2" tall. Both bowl and lid are in pristine clean perfect condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no chips, cracks, or missing enamel.
