These signed Monet earrings are a very hard to find Mid Century Modern design from the early 1950s.
For just a few years, between 1952 and 1954, Monet made a few Ultra Modern designs that are very hard to find today.
I love the tear drop /raindrop motif as the geometry looks very fluid in bright silver rhodium metal. The strong reflective quality of rhodium adds motion to the design. The bright silver rhodium looks just like sterling but it will never tarnish.
I strongly admire these futuristic designs as they were way ahead of their time and the quality of the metals and craftsmanship is unlike anything Monet has made since. Don't confuse the Modern designs from the late 1960s and early 1970s with these. The quality in later years is nothing like these from the early 1950s.
These earrings don't have a bonafide design name but I call them Silver Rain Drops.
This heavy silver-gold chromium plating is extremely durable and has a high mirror finish. This particular finish was only used on Monet jewelry between 1952-1954. The earrings are clips and they have Monet's patented pressure sensitive lever backs that can be adjusted for perfect tension. Both are signed Monet.
The earrings are not big or overwhelming. They are a medium size at 1 1/2" long x 1 1/8" wide. Both earrings are in pristine like new condition with no scratches, scuffs, or wear. The pair is perfectly clean as well.
