This vintage 1940s copper bracelet is a VERY RARE---SUPER SENSATIONAL design! It is solid, heavy, old German copper and Im certain this design hails from Germany. The four cabs on this bracelet are very large and the spectacular high domed designs are exact replicas of seashells known as sea biscuits. The sea biscuits have raised polished copper ribs and the recessed areas have a beaded texture.
Each link on this bracelet is bigger than a US Silver dollar at 1 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" tall. The sea biscuits stand out front to back 1/2" high. The round copper disks they are soldered to are concave, so the design lays very nicely on your wrist. You can get a better idea of the size of the bracelet by looking at the photo of the bracelet on my wrist. WOW !
The bracelet is 7 1/2" long and has the original copper safety chain with spring clasp. The links that join the medallions, the copper fold over clasp, and the large jump ring are original, and are undoubtedly German made.
This bracelet has been worn an admired but only shows light signs of age on the front. The concave circles are polished copper with a clear Capron finish, and there are some small light scratches in the Capron clear coat. The sea biscuits have not been cleaned or polished and retain the original old copper patina.
The back of the bracelet has moderate signs of age including scratches and wear. There are no dings or greening or other serious imperfections. The bracelet is not signed - but you can see where there was once a little rectangular sticker on the back that probably just read something like Solid Copper or Genuine Copper.
A true gem for serious vintage copper bracelet collectors only !
