This delightful jewel-tone bug pin is a ladybug pin attributed to Delizza and Elster. This jewelry designer made a lot of astonishing butterfly pins but they did not make many other bug pins. I believe this ladybug pin is a later design that was made sometime after 1967.
This pin is not petite or tiny and the faceted aquamarine glass body is rather large. The pin is 1 5/8" tall x 1 1/4" wide. The impressive pear cut aquamarine body has diamond facets and is 3/4" tall x 1/2" wide. This translates to a pear cut cab that is about 7 carats in size!
The 4 marquise cabs are topaz and amethyst glass. The amethyst cabs are gold mirror backed and the topaz cabs are open backs. The large rhinestone chaton at the top is rose pink and the 3 other rhinestone chatons are smokey grey. Also notice the bead textured gold metal antennas, a popular Delizza and Elster style that was used on many butterfly pins.
The back of the pin is finished in bright yellow gold metal and the original fine working safety clasp is in place. The entire pin is in in pristine like new condition with no imperfections, scratches, or signs of wear except a tiny bit of light gold wear on the back.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
You can add a gold brooch slider to convert this pin to a pendant by checking the option box.
