18 very large "brilliant clear" crystals make up this captivating, stacked dome brooch!
From the 1940s, this rare impressive brooch is not signed but it was most likely made by Eisenberg, denoted by the quality and the huge crystals. These crystals are what is known as brilliant clears. They are old world Bohemian lead crystals, with the weight of old crystal that were made to look like diamonds. They have perfect sparkling clear "ice like" brilliance, like the old cut crystal your mother or grandmother may have in their hutch cabinets.
This brooch will almost fill the palm of your hand at 2 " wide or 5 cm. It is very weighty at 36 grams. The brooch is made of silver rhodium metal and all of the crystals are prong set. The large chatons have brilliant diamond cut facets and each chaton is a whopping 1/2" or 12 mm wide. There are some smaller chatons in the design as well.
The entire brooch both front and back is in pristine professionally cleaned condition. All of the crystals are perfect with no scratches, chips, scuffs, or cloudiness. There is some very light and minor facet wear on the top crystal hardly worth noting. All of the prongs have perfect rhodium finishes and the rhodium on the back is perfect as well. The back of the brooch has some very fine light microscopic scratches from gentle handling and the original fine working safety clasp is in place.
