This vintage 1950-1960 era jeweled northern star brooch is a modern twist on the old Maltese cross design. The designer of this brooch will remain a mystery for now, even though the brooch is signed with a U on a cartouche; it is not Ultracraft or Uncas.
The 8 point star is made of satin gold painted metal and the glowing translucent jewels are all glass, with the addition of clear rhinestones around the domed black glass cab. Notice the diamond shaped prongs that serve as a bezel for the black cab.
The brooch is large in size at 2 1/2" or 64 mm wide. You can get a better indication of the size by viewing the photo of the brooch in my hand. The entire brooch is in spectacular pristine condition with no signs of wear or other imperfections. The brooch is microscopically clean and bright and all of the glass cabs and rhinestones are flawless. The back has the original fine working safety clasp.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
