This Art Deco styled gold ribbon brooch with faceted black glass cabs is signed Kenneth J Lane. It is not a piece that was made for Avon. It is signed with the KJL mark that indicates it was produced for QVC in the 1980-1990 period.
But here's the funny thing. I've had this brooch at least 20 yrs. For the past 10 years, I know how to run extensive online searches. Ive searched high and low and I've never seen another KJL brooch like this one. I've looked at thousands of KJL brooch photos and still to this day can't find another one like this.
The brooch is made of polished gold metal but the black glass chatons are rather unique because under certain lighting, the cabs can appear to be deep garnet red. This brooch is a long slender design that measures 3" long x 3/4" wide.
The brooch is in fine condition, but it does have some slight imperfections. There is one glass cab that has 2 microscopic flea bites on the edge of the facet. The polished gold portion of the ribbon has some very scant and light scratches from handling. The back of the brooch is finished in etched gold and the original fine working safety clasp is in place. Even with slight imperfections, this is a very unusual KJL brooch to find.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
