Art Deco Signed Louis Stern Silver Gold Aquamarine Necklace Bracelet Set
# 15454
$425.00
This 1940s Art Deco necklace and bracelet parure are signed 1/20 12kt Gold Filled but both pieces look like sterling silver, but better.
Designers at Louis Stern had a method of making sterling silver look like white gold or platinum by gold filling sterling silver. It is not a process that was ever revealed to any other jewelry designers and is still a mystery today.
But just wow, does this demi-parure appear to light up from within! This set is NOT gold vermeil, nor does it have any appearance of gold at all. It is the brightest sterling silver you've ever seen.
This very unique demi-parure is signed L.S. Co., for Louis Stern of Providence RI, who was in business from about 1870 to 1950. Information on Louis Stern jewelry can easily be found online today, along with many of their old jewelry ads.
*Two of their old ads are pictured here but are not included as items in this listing. The old ad with the photo of a similar necklace is an ad that ran in 1948.
The design is very much 1940s, sort of Art Nouveau meets Art Deco.
The Fleur de Lis or floral settings feature deep teal Aquamarine gemstones in faceted diamond cuts.
The necklace is a choker style and is 14 3/4" long. The bracelet is 7" long. The flat "tank track" mesh bracelet is a little bit wider than the necklace. The mesh on the necklace is 1/2" or 13 mm wide. The mesh on the bracelet is 5/8" or 17 mm wide.
The necklace was obviously made for young ladies with slender necks but with some easy additional jewelry craftsmanship, extenders could be added to one or both sides of the box clasp.
Both pieces are in pristine microscopically clean very well cared for condition. There is no metal wear and the clasps are like new as well. The floral motif medallions are very nice with no scratches, dings, or wear. The Aquamarine gemstones are flawless.
Both pieces are signed L.S.Co, 1/20 12kt GF.
Truth is, this necklace has been professionally protected and stored away in my jewelry collection for over 40 years and has never been worn. There are only possible microscopic hints of wear from gentle handling.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in new presentation jewelry boxes ~
