Art Deco Pin PIERRE BEX Enamel Rhinestone Face
Many collectors can spot this pin as Pierre Bex but few know that this is a very illusive hard to find pin.
This pin is an Art Deco styled face pin or clown pin. The quality of the pin; the rhinestones and marcasite-looking antiqued silver metal indicates it was an earlier made piece. As Pierre Bex jewelry was made in France, I believe this pin was made to pay tribute to the famous French actress Claudette Colbert (photo below). This pin was remade by Pierre Bex in later years but the newer version is not the same.
The pin is made of silver plated copper. The enamel to the sides of the face is light lime green with a glistening finish. The enamel at the bottom of the face is emerald. In the emerald area you can see ridges that mimic look of a clowns ruffled collar. The enamels are under a thick clear coat that is glass like.
Petite in size, the pin is 1 1/4" or 32 mm tall.
The pin is in pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no dings, scratches, cracks, or missing rhinestones. All of the rhinestones are original and have superb sparkle. In the collar area, under magnification, some very light micropic scratches can be seen if you look hard. The back has the original trombone clasp and the pin is not signed.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation pin box.
