Carnival Glass Scarf Clip West Germany 1960s Jewelry
In the 1950s and 1960s West Germany produced jewelry items that vintage jewelry collectors today call Carnival glass.
The manufacturing process was slightly different from Carnival glass made during the depression years but the result was very similar, but even more beautiful! More beautiful because the smaller intricate fancy mold designs of jewelry refract the iridescent finish in a way bowls and vases cannot.
This scarf clip is white glass the looks carved but it is actually a layered mold design with no mold lines. The glass is translucent white glass; not milk glass. The iridescent finish is pastel hues of gold, silver, pink, and lavender. An exact color is hard to pinpoint and the finish is a glistening multi-hue. The spiked flower domed cab is set in a double rope gold metal frame.
You don't have to wear a scarf to use this scarf clip. It can be attached to the top of a shirt or dress, the top pocket or lapel of a jacket, or clipped to a purse.
Medium in size, the scarf clip is 1 3/8" or 35 mm wide.
The entire clip, both front and back, is in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. The glass cab is perfect with no scratches, cracks, or chips. The gold is perfect as well with no gold wear or loss of gold. The back is signed W Germany.
