Carved Ivory Celluloid Rose 1940s Vintage Pendant Brooch

Made in the 1930-1940 era, this exquisite carved celluloid rose is both a brooch and a pendant.

The rose is ivory or eggshell with delicate shading in light pink and the exceptional detail in this brooch will fool you for real ivory. There is a reason this brooch was made to look like ivory. When it was made ivory was expensive and hard to obtain. Celluloid jewelry like this was made to make one think it was real ivory. Back then, the reason was not environmental or had anything to do with animal rights, but today that is another reason to own and wear it; because it looks like ivory but is not!

The rose is medium in size at 1 1/4" or 30 mm wide. It has the original pin closing mechanism on the back that looks like new. The rose is strung on new white silk cotton cord that can be hooked between 18" to 20" long.

The entire rose both front and back is in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no chips, cracks, scratches, or repairs. The entire rose retains the original high gloss shine.

The rose is not signed but the very fine quality indicates it was most likely made in Japan. Old Made in Japan celluloid jewelry is very desirable; above the quality that was made in Europe and the US at that time.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a presentation jewelry box.
