Carved Wood Lady Necklace Ethnic African Face Pendant 1960s Vintage Jewelry
This very unique hand carved mahogany necklace is certainly one of a kind.
The large ethnic medallion is the profile of a lady's face that looks African by design, but I believe this necklace was most likely made in Jamaica. Vintage hand crafted jewelry items from Jamaica are very rare to find and today and is almost a lost art form.
The chain is made of flat 2" long rectangular sections of carved mahogany, joined with large silver metal hoops. The carved medallion has a polished natural quartz stone, placed where an earring would be. The necklace is not signed but the craftsmanship indicates that this is most likely Jamaican.
The entire necklace is in perfect condition with no signs of wear or age. There are no chips or scratches on the wood pieces and the silver metal hoops are clean and pristine. The face is rather large at 3" long x 2 1/2" wide. The necklace chain is about 28" long.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
