Vintage Folk Art Pins Carved Wood Brooch Set 1960s Jewelry
These two pins are rather uncommon and date from the 1950-1960 era. They were made in the Pennsylvania Dutch region by the Amish and they were sold at open markets.
I know that the men carved the pins, and the women did the painting. I dont believe that they continue this tradition, as most of the Amish markets today typically do not sell jewelry items.
The pins are hand carved in a country art design, similar to the designs you see on their barns and houses. They are painted with red, white and blue enamels with highlights in gold, and clear coated. The designs are burnished into the wood, accounting for the dark brown color.
The pins are different sizes : 1 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" wide. Both have painted black backs and old brass C clasps. Both are in mint condition and are not signed.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
