Lion Pin India Hand Made Red Crest Patch Brooch
For centuries, hand made medallion pins or patches similar to this have been made in India but they are not easy to find as most have been worn and loved to death. In my 40 years of collecting antique and vintage jewelry, I have only been able to locate a hand full.
This hand made crest style pin was probably made in the 1950 era based on the type of materials used. The background in bright red felt and the beads are milk glass. Everything is sewn together with crimped metallic gold thread and the design in the middle is a lion.
The back is finished in white canvas and the ink stamp can only partially be read. However, I have seen this stamp before and it should read New World India. This term was used during the 1950s when India became independent of British rule in 1947.
This medallion style patch pin is medium in size at 2" tall x 1 3/4" wide or 5 cm x 4.4 cm. The entire piece is in pristine like new condition with no flaws or imperfections. The whole piece is perfectly clean with no wear and the back has the original fine working safety clasp.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation earring box.
You can add a gold brooch slider to convert this pin to a pendant by checking the box below. Sliders come with a pair of silicon stoppers to hold slider in place.
