NAPIER Signed Gold Puffer Fish Pin Vintage Jewelry (15918)

Signed NAPIER Gold Puffer Fish Pin Vintage Jewelry

You can call this designer signed vintage fish pin a puffer fish, a blow fish, or a porcupine fish, but let me say something as a vintage jewelry collector of over 30 years and as a retired marine biologist and professional scuba diver of 20 years.

I love puffer fish.

They are one of the most charming creatures in the sea. They are extremely inquisitive, and will come up and get right in your face when scuba diving, and look at you as if to say, " What are you doing down here in my neck of the woods?" They have twitchy bulging eyes and they watch every little thing you do. They are nosey and will even go and report to other fish what you are doing.

If you alarm them, or stir up some sand, they will take a big breath and puff up. Their eye balls will bulge out and they are suddenly, accidentally, unable to swim, as they have now become a buoyant bubble and get swept away in the current. The look on their faces when this happens is priceless. They do it over and over, and they seem surpirsed every time that they have suddenly become a big floating balloon.

Wouldn't that be nice if us humans could do that. Instead of getting angry and red in the face, we could puff ourselves up and float away without a care! So you see, you don't wear this brooch because you love fish, you wear it because of what the fish can do. If someone ticks you off, you point to the puffer pin. They wont know what in the world you mean, so you have to explain that if they tick you off, you are going to ignore them, puff up, and float away!

This is not just any puffer fish pin. This is THE puffer fish, designer signed by Napier and made in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The puffer is made of textured and thickly plated rose gold metal and stippled with knobby points. The fish has 6 pearls and a pink rhinestone eye.

Petite in size, the pin is 1 1/2" long x 1 1/8" tall or 38 mm x 25 mm. The entire brooch both front and back is in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. All of the pearls are lustrous and perfect as well. The back has the original fine working safety clasp and the Napier signature.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new luxury presentation brooch box.
