RARE Black Glass Spiral Brooch Art Nouveau Vintage Jewelry
Old Spider Web theme brooches are a very rare find.
There were a few styles made in the 1950's, and they were a throw back to the Art Nouveau era.
It is called spider web but it is not really a spider web brooch at all. It is an Art Nouveau design. Spider web is only the name of the motif that happened to take hold for brooches that were designed in radiating like spirals.
This old pot metal brooch is black Japanned pot metal. The spirals are convex and tiered giving this piece a nice 3D effect. Some of the metal bars are twisted metal, and some are flat. The three oval and convex stones in the center are black glass. The brooch also has a flared ribbon of black rhinestone chatons.
The brooch is all original with all stones present and in fine condition. It has the original fine working safety clasp on the back and is not signed. There is some light wear to the black enamel on the back only. It measures 1 3/4" wide.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
You can add a gold or silver brooch slider to convert this pin to a pendant by checking the box below. Sliders come with a pair of silicon stoppers to hold slider in place.
