Gold Spirograph Flower Pin West German Vintage Jewelry
When it comes to vintage wire spun or wire wrapped jewelry, West German jewelry makers were the masters. I say "were" because jewelry like this hasn’t been made for 30 years or more.
There were two types of West German wire wrapped jewelry. The early 1940's and 1950's styles, in silver or gold metal wire, that was hand wrapped in flower and leaf shapes with congruent, straight wire strands. In the 1960s, genius German jewelry makers incorporated the use of a spirograph machine that wrapped the wire in true spirograph forms.
Once the 9 petals on this gold wire flower brooch were spun, the artists fashioned the petals into a flower form and hand wired the petals together. They also completed the design with meticulous hand wiring along the stem or the support that hold the hinge, bar, and clasp.
Look closely at the back of the brooch and you can see the incredible tight wire work ! The flower petals can be arched and arranged gently to form as you please.
Medium large in size, the brooch is 2 1/2" or 64 mm wide. The entire flower is in pristine clean like new perfect condition with no flaws or imperfections. There are no missing or broken wire strands. The gold is glistening and sparkles like new. The brooch is not signed but it was assuredly made in West Germany.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
