Japanese Antique Porcelain Bowl Hand Painted Geisha in Gold #16772

US$55.00
Item number: 16772

Over several decades I have collected many unique old Oriental wares.

This medium sized hand painted bowl has always been a favorite of mine not just for the decor but it also has a rare Japanese mark that dates to the early 1920s. It is an unidentified mark as far as I know and is believed to be an early mark of the Noritake Co.

This white porcelain bowl has been stored in a glass curio cabinet for many decades and has never been handled. The scene depicts a man and a geisha that is painted in Oriental red and 24kt gold. The background features the mountains, trees, and a pagoda in a garden.

Medium in size, the bowl is 5 5/8" wide x 1 5/8" tall or 143 mm x 38 mm. The rim is fluted, hand painted, and trimmed in 24 gold. The bowl itself is also ruffled or fluted with fluted handles at the top.

The entire bowl is in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. There is no paint or gold wear and no scratches, chips, repairs, or signs of wear.
