Bohemian Emerald Glass Earrings Sapphire Cut 1940s Vintage Jewelry #11061

US$95.00
Item number: 11061

Made in the 1930-1940 era, these emerald glass sapphire earrings are very rare and they are rather large.

The glass is Bohemian ribbon glass with hints of light green and the glass is reverse carved. The way in which the long oval lines were reverse carved is known as a Sapphire star cut. The result looks like a real star in the glass. When light hits the glass at angles the colors within the glass change.

The earrings are screw backs and the large glass cabs are set in custom made polished brass bezels. These earrings are rather large and measure 1 1/4" long x 3/4" wide or 3.2 cm x 1.8 cm. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. Only under very high magnification can very light signs of gentle handling be detected, hardly worth noting. The brass has a slight patina from age and a few tiny age spots, but excellent condition for age.

Although the earrings are not signed they were most likely made in Germany as the glass Im certain is Bohemian. I have never seen another pair like them in my 40 years of collecting antique and vintage jewelry.
