1960s Sunflower Vintage Butter Dish 1/4 Pound #16031

Item number: 16031

Over the past 30 years, I have collected what I consider to be unique antique and vintage butter dishes because I despise a conventional butter dish in my kitchen or on my table.

Do you know how hard it is to find an authentic vintage sunflower butter dish? A real one. Not one with sunflowers somebody just painted on. They are few and far between!

Not many manufacturers made them, and most of the ones Ive seen were made in Japan. This is a large off white ceramic butter dish. When I say large I mean the lid is taller and wider than normal, which makes it easy to grab. It was made for a full quarter pound of butter.

This butter dish was made in the 1960s and is signed Japan. The base is 7 3/4" long x 4 3/8" wide or 19.7 cm x 11 cm. The lid is 6 1/4" long x 3 1/8" wide or 16 cm x 8 cm. The base and the lid are in excellent almost like new condition with no chips or repairs.

* There is some light foxing or age discoloration to one side of the lid, some clear coat crazing and a small hairline crack that is only on the surface and doesn't run all the way through. Please see my photos. The light signs of age are hardly worth noting on a butter dish this hard to find.
