Rare 1940s Japanese Art Glass Flower Brooch # 8496

Made in the 1920-1940 era, this handmade art glass flower brooch is extremely rare. It was made in Japan and has the original paper sticker on the back. The entire piece was hand made, including the glass flowers and leaves.

The flowers and leaves are all bright, rich primary colors with deep, molded ribs and each was mold made with metal wires inside the glass.

The brooch is 3" tall x w2 1/4" wide. All of the glass flowers and leaves are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The wires that form the flower stem are twisted together and wrapped in old silk cord that is a faded light green. The brooch has the original brass safety pin clasp on the back as well.

The brooch is exceptionally clean. The stamens in the flowers are made of paper over wire and have some age to them.

This brooch is a very rare piece to find, as Japanese art glass jewelry pieces were not hand crafted and not at all abundantly produced.
