Antique Crystal Necklace Givre Root Beer Barrels 1930s Jewelry #16992
This circa 1920 art deco crystal necklace is very rare!
It was made in Thuringia and is most likely Selesian. If not Selesian, then Gablonz. I've studied the teachings of Sibylle Jargstorf for many years and she considers old lead glass/crystal beads like these to be very rare.
Today we would call this color root beer but when the beads were made they were called amber. But, they are not plain amber. They are givre' lead glass crystals or color caned which creates superb sparkling brilliance. All of the beads are barrel shaped with small diamond facets that are highly polished. Very, very rare hand made crystal beads !
A nice long flapper strand, the necklace is 31" or 79 cm long. The barrel beads are 14 mm long. The beads are strung on the original amber colored cotton cord and hand knotted between each bead. The original brass barrel clasp, in fine working order, is also in place.
The entire necklace is in pristine clean condition and is in superb condition for age. There are no chips or cracks and only microscopic hints of wear.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new luxury presentation necklace box.
