Antique Heron Bird Pin w Rhinestones 1940s Jewelry #10967
This exceptional vintage 1930s or 1940s bird brooch looks like a great white heron, but I think perhaps it is a giant wood stork.
Regardless of whether it is a heron or a stork, this unusual old bird is a very rare find with very appealing colors and great dimensional design.
* This pin was photographed and is featured in Warman's Jewelry Book, 4th Ed. Not another pin like this on, but this exact pin in my collection from GreatVintageJewelry.com as noted in the book.
The bird is silver pot metal and has rows of clear rhinestone paves on the three long sweeping tail feathers. The legs and head feathers are silver beaded metal. The body is cinnamon brown enamel flanked by green enamel feathers. The neck and head are white enamel and the eye is a green rhinestone. Also notice the impressive row of tangerine rhinestones down the chest.
This bird is in fabulous condition for age and is perfectly clean.
The brooch is a nice presentation piece and is medium large at 2 5/8" long x 1 1/2" wide.
There is no wear to the silver pot metal and all of the rhinestones are original, present and sparkling. Some very light wear in tiny spots on the enamels gives proof of the age of this piece.
The brooch has the original fine working safety clasp and is not signed. The back is finished in silver paint and shows no signs of wear.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a luxury presentation brooch box.
