Art Deco 1930s German Lusterware Rice Canister #16916

Item number: 16916

This canister has been stashed away in my hutch and never used for over 40 yrs. It is signed but the signature is faint and hard to read unless under magnification. It is signed Germany, Mepoco Ware.

Mepoco was a US company that imported wares from many countries and put their stamp on the wares. But imprinted in the mold, in the porcelain is the word Germany. Mepoco was in business from 1918 to 1935.

This RICE canister features light blue lusterware glaze with 22kt gold trim. On the top front of the canister is a colorful band of Art Deco decor. This large canister is 8” tall x 4 3/4” wide x 3 ¾” deep.

The canister and lid are in pristine clean like new condition with no chips, crazing, cracks, or repairs. There is some very light paint and gold trim wear from handling over the years. On the lid handle, what looks like glaze wear is actually white flecks in the blue glaze, not wear.
