Copper Enamel Vintage Necklace Art Nouveau Jewelry Flower Panels #17053

To me, as an antique and vintage jewelry collector, this exceptional retro vintage necklace is like The Clash of the Titans.

It reflects so many eras it is hard to call it just one style. This is a copper enamel necklace that was made in the 1950-1960 era. For that reason, the necklace is Mid Century Modern.

Typically, copper enamel necklaces from this era had very modern shapes and the enamels normally were marbled or swirled. The necklace is also a panel necklace which is reminiscent mainly of the 1960s.

The rose and flower basket motifs are an antique Art Nouveau style. This all comes together at a time when Art Nouveau made a comeback in the mid to late 1960s, but the influences of Mid Century Modern and New Age Modern were coming into style. Hope I didn't confuse you! Perhaps now you see why this necklace is so unique.

The necklace has 16 trapezoid copper enamel panels; 9 have floral motifs. The background enamel is bright white with a snowy texture.

All of the panels are joined with strong silver metal links (could be sterling or sterling plated). The back of the necklace is just as fascinating as the enamel is finished in black and white speckles.

When clasped, the necklace is 17 " or 43 cm long. The largest panel at center is 1 3/8" or 35 mm wide. The entire necklace is in pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws.There are no scratches, chips, or signs of wear. If you look microscopically at a couple of the panel, there are 2 or 3 that have very small edge wear on a corner where you can see the copper shining thru. You have to look at it with a magnifying glass to find them. The original spring clasp is in perfect working order.

Extension chain is 4" so the necklace could be hooked anywhere between 17" and 21".
