You could search a lifetime for an antique brooch like this one; it is extremely rare, very unique, and aesthetically striking. Made in Italy circa 1925, this design is Italian Renaissance Revival. In most cases the only time you will see a brooch like this is in a book or museum. Even the most famous historian of antique glass in jewelry, Sibylle Jargstorf, was not able to depict any antique Vaseline glass brooches in her book Glass in Jewelry.Made of mix of antiqued brass, copper, and gold-filled metal, the brooch features a large hand faceted rectangular cab of rare Vaseline glass. The Vaseline cab is faceted on the back and around the front edges and is set in a custom-made saw tooth bezel. The Millefiori canes on the face are not applied and cannot be felt as they are inside the glass itself. The swirled canes are red, white, blue, and green with a ribbon of gold aventurine at the center. The frame is a twisted rope with pierced edging and embellished with four flower medallions, one on each side. This brooch can also be worn as a pendant with the addition of a gold metal brooch slider, either in a horizontal or vertical fashion. You can add a brooch slider by checking one of the boxes below this description.Medium in size, the brooch is 1 1/2" wide x 1" tall or 38 mm x 25 mm. The entire brooch is in pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws. There are no scratches, scuffs, chips, or cracks to the front or back of the glass cab. The brass is clean as well with no signs of wear or verdigris. The back has the original fine working safety clasp. The brooch is not signed.Comes gift wrapped and shipped in new luxury presentation brooch box.* This brooch can also be worn as a pendant with the addition of a gold metal brooch slider, either in a horizontal or vertical fashion.
