This very rare, gorgeous brooch was made in the 1940s and can be called a panel brooch, a picture frame brooch, or a buckle brooch.
The flowers and glass leaves are set in an open motif and are made of Sapphire blue poured and etched molded glass. Bezel set clear crystal chatons and marquise crystals also embellish the design. The brooch is made of silver rhodium metal and the frame is a single row of chanel set clear rhinestone chatons.
The brooch is not signed however the quality construction is probably that of Trifari. I have seen these glass leaves used in a few Trifari brooches that were made in the late 1930s / early 1940s. I have searched relentlessly for many years to find another brooch like this one to no avail. Needless to say, these glass leaves are very rare and were most likely made in France.
Large in size, the brooch is 2 5/8" wide x 1 3/8" tall or 69 mm x 35 mm. The entire brooch is in superb pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws. All of the poured glass flowers and leaves are perfect with no scratches, chips, or cracks. All of the crystals and rhinestones are original, present, and super sparkling. The edges and the back have some light scratches and wear to the silver rhodium from gentle handling. The back has the original fine working safety clasp.
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new luxury presentation brooch box.
