There is one aspect I insist upon in the antique and vintage Italian glass mosaic jewelry I collect : It must be perfect. Because of the delicate nature of this handmade jewelry, there is a lot of old Italian mosaic glass jewelry out there that is damaged and to me, my eye always goes right to the damaged parts. 

There is also a great deal to learn about Italian Millefiori glass jewelry. It has been made for well over 100 years and the older the designs, the more valuable. While some of designs from the 1950's and 1960's are beautiful pieces and can command high prices, the jewelry that was made in the 1920-1940 era still in excellent condition is more eagerly collected. It takes an experienced collector to know the difference. 

Made in the 1930-1940 era, this Italian glass mosaic flower brooch is a lovely mix of bright red, cornflower blue, and white. The flower design at the center has hints of green and yellow and the flowers "pop" on the red background. Around the perimeter are dainty cornflower blue flower mosaics, all trimmed in pierced gold metal settings. 

Medium petite in size, the brooch is 1 1/4" or 32 mm wide. The entire brooch is in pristine clean like new condition with no imperfections or flaws. The glass retains its high gloss shine and there is no missing or damaged glass. The back of the brooch is brass, with an aged patina, and the brooch has the original fine working safety clasp. The brooch is signed Italy.
