Of all the old brooches I love to collect, some of my favorites are big eye popping extravagant designs that were popular right after World War II. These commanding brooches were known has post war pins and they were a huge fashion statement in their time. These big pot metal brooches are hard to come by these days, especially in good collectable condition. This unique floral bouquet design is thick and weighty pot metal with a satin yellow gold gilt finish. (It is not gold plated but rather yellow-gold paint dipped.) The center stem is paved with clear rhinestone baguettes and the rest of the rhinestones are clear chatons with the majority being about 2.6 mm in size. Some of the rhinestones have taken on a diamond grey tint from age.Large in size, the brooch is 3" tall x 3" wide. It weighs 39 grams. You can get a better indication of the size if you look at the photo of the brooch in my hand. The brooch is in very fine condition for age. All of the rhinestones are original and present. There is no damage to the metal like scratches or dents. There are light specks of gold wear here and there, and some light gold wear on the back. The brooch has the original fine working safety clasp and is not signed. This is a very unique post war brooch. An exceptional, extravagant design!Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
