This is a very unique mother of pearl pin is an unsigned Miriam Haskell pin from the 1940s. It can be seen on page 152 of Miriam Haskell Jewelry by Cathy Gordon and Sheila Pamfiloff.
The pin was hand made using oval clam shells, polished to a mother of pearl finish, to create the petals. The beads in the center are old glass beads that are wired to the design. One of the shells is hand painted with a palm tree motif that is slightly worn. If you look at the back, you can see the hand wired construction to the pierced plastic finding.
Look at the photo of the brooch in my hand and you can see just how large it is. It measures 3" wide. The five mother of pearl shells are in perfect condition with no scratches or chips and they retain their glassy pearl finish. All of the glass beads are in great shape as well and are all original and present.
This is an exceptionally unique piece of old Miriam Haskell Mother of Pearl jewelry!
Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
