This late 1940s or early 1950s unique spiral art glass brooch is one of Henry Schreiner's earliest designs. This mesmerizing stacked and layered whirl design features German art glass cabs in alternating translucent lavender and deep Amethyst purple. The brooch is made of gold plated metal and all of the Marquise art glass cabs have open backs. Allowing light to pass through the brooch makes the art glass come alive. In addition, the unique multi-prong gold metal settings add brilliance to the art glass. Around the perimeter are lavender rhinestone chatons in sparkling gold multi-prong settings, and a large domed round Amethyst cab is perched at the center.Large in size, the brooch is 2 1/8" or 54 mm wide. The marquise art glass stones are about 15 mm long. The brooch is not signed but the construction is early Schreiner. The entire brooch is in spectacular pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws. All of the glass cabs are perfect with no scratches, cracks, scuffs, or chips. All of the rhinestones and glass cabs are original and sparkling. There is no gold wear or loss of gold, not even on the back. The back has the original fine working safety clasp.Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
