Oriental jewelry has always been popular throughout the ages but it wasn't until the 1950s that it became a mainstream American fashion trend. Only a few US jewelry designers made Oriental theme jewelry from the 1950s through the early 1970s.During the 1960s, ART made a short-lived series of different Oriental theme jewelry. This ART signed Oriental theme necklace with matching earrings is a very rare to find set.The large medallion pendant and the earrings are open work Pagoda designs made of antiqued gold plated brass. The pagodas are thickly embellished with replica Chinese gold plated brass coins and acrylic Jade circles, beads, and hearts. The pendant is about 2 3/4" tall x 2 1/4" wide or 70 mm x 57 mm. The clip earrings are about 1 3/4" long x 1 1/2" wide or 44 mm x 38 mm and are not heavy to wear. All three pieces are signed ART.
