This vintage Scottish Agate brooch features an impressive large, striated agate in unusual hues. This is called blue agate, with light sky-blue coloration and other variegated hues of golden honey, earthy green, and browns. The Agate is translucent and open backed and light makes the Agate come alive.

This brooch was made in the 1940-1950 era and the double beaded frame is antiqued copper metal. The frame has a double row of small and large beads that are polished copper and the recessed areas retain an aged or antiqued patina.

The brooch is impressive in size at 1 7/8" wide x 1 5/8" tall or 4.7 cm x 4.2 cm. Unsigned, the back has the original fine working safety clasp. The Agate is a premium specimen with no chips, scuffs, or scratches. At very close inspection under magnification, I can see a couple of small inclusions. They are not stress cracks or anything that negates the integrity of the agate and cant really be seen with the naked eye. It is common for large agates to have small inclusions as few if any are ever 100% perfect: most sellers online of agate jewelry just don't know how to assess this quality.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
