It is very nice to find these Oriental man and woman face mask pins still together as a set.

In the early 1950s when this set was made there were only a handful of US jewelry designers that made Tribal or Oriental style face mask pins. Of the 6 I can think of, none except Coro made matching sets. This set is not signed but it was most likely made by Coro.

The figurals are made of brightly polished yellow gold metal with matt black enamel on the faces. The headdresses are embellished with red and blue rhinestones with clear rhinestone collars below the faces. The dangles were made to look like Jade or Chalcedony but they are opaque green glass hand made "thumbprint" beads.

Worn together as a set these figurals are very impressive. They are each medium in size with one pin at 2 1/2" or 64 mm long and the other at 1 5/8" or 42 mm long. Both pins are in exceptional pristine clean condition and remarkable overall condition for age. All of the rhinestones are original, present, and sparkling. There is no black enamel or gold wear, and no loss of enamel or gold. Both pins have their original fine working safety clasps and no wear on the backs.

Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new luxury presentation brooch box.
