There was a little old lady who lived close to me who promised me that some day she would sell me this brooch. That day finally came - after 6 long years of waiting! Finding a massive vintage 1950s Topaz brooch like this one is not easy! I guess the real trick is finding this shape. If you remember the 1950s, you will remember this popular BIG pear shape! 

The brooch is not signed but the style indicates it was most likely made  by Delizza and Ester or Regency. The center of the brooch is domed and  the Topaz and Citrine marquise cut and faceted glass cabs are angled on a  downward slope. All 20 of these marquise cabs are 15mm long and have  open backs. Just the smallest amount of passive light makes them glow  tremendously! The perimeter of the central Topaz pear is framed with AB  rhinestones. 

The pear faceted Topaz glass stone at the center resembles the size of the queens jewels at 1" long. The overall size of the whole brooch is a big hand full at 2 3/4" long x 2" wide. You can get a better indication of size by looking at the photo of the brooch in my hand.

All of the glass cabs and rhinestones on this brooch are prong set in pale gold metal. All are clean and scratch free and the facets are strong with no wear. All of the cabs and rhinestones are present and original. The gold metal shows no signs of wear, not even on the edges, and the back has the original fine working safety clasp.
