In the 1950s and a little into the 1960s, these spike-like beads were only made in West Germany. They have not been made since the mid 1960s and today, adorable beads like these are very hard to find. 

The only jewelry that was produced with spike like beads were brooches and clip earrings. These clip earrings have clustered plastic spike beads in bright Aqua blue. The beads are faceted and they have an iridescent finish creating a glistening effect. These earrings were hand made as all of the beads were individually strung on silk cotton cord to metal button cabs. 

Medium in size and light weight to wear, the earrings are 1 3/8" or 36 mm wide. The beads are very slender and just 1/2" or 12 mm long. All of the beads are in excellent like new pristine clean condition with no signs of wear or discoloration. The gold metal clips are in fine working order but have a darkened patina from age and signs of wear. The earrings are not signed.
